(2) Faculty from Industry with Rich Practical Experiences

The department contains many faculty members who have a wealth of experience within the industry to make classes practical. Students will learn knowledge from textbooks but also be able to apply their knowledge through operation to better their abilities. Students will gain professional ability in theory and practice for future academic pursuits or jobs.


(3) Recruitment of Excellent Faculty to Provide Students and Faculty a Great Learning Environment and Administrative Services

As corporate management trends towards being more liberal, based on information, and global, the department has recruited faculty with local or foreign doctorate degrees in information engineering, electrical engineering, and communications engineering to realize the essence of an education in information technology, increase academic performance and research quality. The department has a strong faculty with 21 full-time professors, 2 adjunct professors, and 10 part-time professors. We are continuing our responsibility in recruiting excellent professors by accepting candidates at a minimum level of associate professor with local or foreign academic research and practical abilities to further strengthen the department.


(4) Premium Faculty Lineup and Research Results

Both students and teachers of the department have shown exceptional performance in academic research or teaching. We also aggressively encourage students and faculty to partake in research or innovative tasks to further enrich the department’s research; our faculty has published approximately 80 thesis papers based on studies in the past three years. Of these papers, 49 were SCI, EI level, 100 were seminar papers, and 4 were books. The MoST also provided funding for 17 research projects and more…the results of our research have been exceptional.


(5) Diverse Curriculum

The department's planned curriculum includes fundamental education, general education, core courses, department electives, and electives to make for a rich and diverse curriculum. Furthermore, curriculums such as "semiconductor information", "smart systems application", "digital content service platform", and "digital content technologies and design" are very practical. Students can choose courses based on their interests or select courses from other departments for double majors to develop a second skill in addition to their professional capabilities.


(6) An Education Method that Combines Theory and Practice

Many of this departments faculty have practical experience in software development and project management, database management and operation experience, corporate resource planning, supply chain management, e-commerce, converting technologies into projects, medical data systems, parallel computing, VLSI/IC design, electronics and circuitry, micro-electronics, product development, and integrated circuits. The education is combined with textbooks that are up to date with this generation and vibrant faculty professionalism so that students can develop an interest through experimentation, professional internships, and the faculty's rich teaching experience. Students will learn to combine theory and practice through fun and rich teaching methods to further strengthen future development.


(7) Strengthen Cross-Field Applications

The department combines bioinformatics and knowledge from the field of healthcare to develop optimal models in quality and cost. We also have cross-field projects such as wireless sensor technologies in home healthcare, research and development of smart painless health monitors, design and development of individualized digital healthcare, and research in bioinformatics for exploration of cancer related genes. These projects strengthen the integration of different fields and hospital systems.


(8) Elevating the Research Standards in International Collaborative Research Projects

We have previously invited renowned speakers from the U.S., Germany,Japan, Singapore, and Poland. Their wealth of knowledge greatly benefitted the department's faculty and students. We have established a basic at-home senior database using Canadian software and data mining technology to discover the relationship between groups for an integrated research project, increasing the level of research. Starting in 2005, we began recruiting foreign students and begin a full English curriculum. The good interactions between local and foreign students further improve the international perspective of students.
